Virbhadra Singh is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He is the longest serving Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Virbhadra Singh is a politician of the Indian National Congress party.

He took oath as a cabinet minister on May 28, 2009. He is the first amongst the 59-ministers to take oath of office and secrecy on the day.

Allegations of Corruption

In October 2012, Virbhadra Singh faced allegations of receiving money from a private steel company. On 13 October 2012, Virbhadra Singh denied all the allegations and threatened legal action against all those who are trying to defame him ahead of the Himachal Pradesh elections. Dubbing the allegations as a cheap publicity stunt, Virbhadra Singh said that he is ready to face any inquiry by an agency in this issue.

A document seized by the Income-tax department during the searches they made at Ispat Industries in Delhi on November 30, 2010 suggested that the company had made four payments totalling Rs. 2.27 crore between October 2009 and August 2010 to Virbhadra Singh, the then Union minister of steel. Payments of smaller amounts were also made to "Minister of Steel APS" and "MOS APS".

On November 27, 2015 the Enforcement Directorate has issued summons to Virbhadra Singh in connection with money laundering case.
