Sujana Choudhary

Y Sujana Chowdary is a politician of the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh. He is the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology in the cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is a member of the Rajya Sabha. He is also the principal founder of Sujana Group of Companies.

Vote on FDI in Rajya Sabha

Sujana Chowdary faced the ire of the Telugu Desam Party’s rank and file after he abstained from the vote on FDI at the Rajya Sabha. Chowdary was summoned by the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu to explain the reasons on why he abstained from the vote. Speaking to the media, Chowdary admitted to making the mistake by negligence and said that he would not repeat such mistakes in the future. He said he was late by 10 minutes for the vote and by the time he reached the Rajya Sabha the gates were closed.

Hurt by the criticism, Sujana Chowdary has resigned as Rajya Sabha MP on Dec 9, 2012. He send the resignation letter to party president Chandrababu Naidu and requested him to forward it to Rajya Sabha chairman. He said that it is the party high command politburo to take a call on his resignation and made it clear that he would continue with the Telugu Desam Party in any case.

On 11 December 2015, Sujana Choudhary inaugurated the 50th Indian Orthodontic Conference (IOC) at HICC in Hyderabad.
