Sania Mirza

Sania Mirza (born November 15, 1986 at Mumbai, India) is a professional tennis player from India who plays in the WTA. She is a goodwill ambassador for sports in India.

Sania Mirza lives in Hyderabad, India. She is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.

Engagement with Sohrab Mirza

Sania was earlier engaged to Hyderabadi Mohammad Sohrab Mirza on July 10, 2009 at a private function held at a Taj hotel in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Some fans of her (Mohammad Ashraf and Ajay Singh Yadav) are reported to have created scene outside her house asking her to marry. However, the engagement has been later called off.

Sania Mirza made history by becoming the first Indian female tennis player to achieve No. 1 WTA ranking in Women’s doubles. In 2015, she partnered with Martina Hingis ane was ranked the No. 1 tennis player in doubles. After losing the No. 1 spot, Sania Mirza regained it by winning the semifinals of Rome Masters.
