Being Human is the charity organization run by Salman. It works for the cause of underprivileged children, focusing on the areas of education and healthcare.

Salman Khan will celebrate his 50th birthday on 27 December 2015. A new biography of the actor "Being Salman" detailing personal life and family lineage will be released. The book authored by Delhi-based journalist Jasim Khan, will be published by Penguin India.
Salman Khan has acted in a number of Bollywood movies and is one of the leading actor in the Indian film industry. He has made his acting debut in Bollywood in 1988 with the movie ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Ek Tha Tiger was released in August 2012, a year after his blockbuster movie Bodyguard. The movie went on to beat box office collection records in Bollywood.
Salman Khan has emerged as the highest taxpayer in Bollywood in September 2012. His latest film, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ is just one of his four movies which crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark in boxoffice collections and is closing on the Rs. 200 crore mark. Salman Khan has paid Rs. 8 crore in advance tax for the July-September quarter in 2012. He paid Rs. 5 crore during the same period an year ago.
Compared to Salman Khan, the other leading actors in the Bollywood industry has paid much lesser advance taxes. Katrina Kaif has paid Rs. 2.6 crore, Shahrukh Khan paid Rs. 5 crore, Akshay Kumar has paid Rs. 7.5 crore and Aamir Khan Rs. 3.25 crore.
Salman Khan says walking the ramp was not as easy as acting.
Salman Khan was alleged to have run over a group of people sleeping outside a bakery on the pavement in Mumbai’s suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002. The actor was reportedly in an inebriated state at the time of accident. One person was killed and four others were injured in the accident. Lawyers for Salman Khan said the actor was not driving at the time of accident.
On December 5, 2013 the court had ordered a fresh trial on the ground that the witnesses had not been examined in the context of aggravated charge of culpable homicide, which was invoked against the actor midway through the proceedings. The charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder attracts a 10-year sentence.
In an Mumbai court, two eyewitnesses of the incident Muslim Sheikh and Munnu Khan told the court that the actor was behind the wheel when he allegedly run over the people. The witnesses said that the actor was so drunk that he fell down after he got out of the car and fled the scene.
Salman Khan's police bodyguard Ravindra Patil died during the trial in 2007.
On 6 May 2015, the Mumbai Sessions court has announced its verdict and sentenced to Salman Khan to five years in jail. He was found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Salman Khan could approach Bombay High Court for bail.
On 16 November 2015, Salman Khan filed an application before Justice A R Joshi of Bombay High Court seeking examination of his friend and singer Kamaal Khan. On 30 November 2015, the judge denied the application and refused to summon Kamaal.
On 10 December 2015, the Bombay High Court has acquitted Salman Khan in the hit and run case.
In March 2010, he appeared before a special court in Mumbai as a prosecution witnesses in a 10-year-old case of the movie.
Salman was found guilty of poaching the Chinkara at Ujiyala Bhakhar near Ghoda Farm in 1998 while shooting for the film Hum Saath Saath Hain. He is charged with poaching two Chinkaras at Ujiyala Bhakhar near Ghoda Farm. Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Satish Shah, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari have been acquitted in the case. Salman was convicted on April 10, 2006 and the court imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him. He is released on bail in August 31, 07. Salman had filed the review petition against the District and Session Court’s verdict of August 24 in which the court had rejected his appeal in the Ghoda Farm Chinkara poaching case and upheld five year imprisonment awarded to him by the lower trial court. Salman has also been sentenced to a year’s imprisonment in another poaching case at Bhawad. In October 07, he is asked to appear before principal bench of the Rajasthan High Court here today in connection with the case.
Salman Khan supported and campaigned for the Congress part in 2009 Indian general elections. He supported and campaigned the Congress candidate from the Unnao Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He also campaigned for the veteran actor and Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat Vinod Khanna. On April 13, 2010, he campaigned for Milind Deora of the Congress Party.
