RSS has reiterated its position against cow slaughter. The Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of RSS Manmohan Vaidya said that the basis for ban on cow slaughter is not just religious but also on environmental and medicinal grounds. He said that Cow-based farming has been the backbone of India. Even some Muslim rulers like Akbar had banned cow slaughter. The manifesto of the first struggle for Independence in 1857 under leadership of Bahadur Shah Zafar has included a ban on cow slaughter he said.
