Nandamuri Balakrishna

Nandamuri Balakrishna is a Tollywood film actor and son of TDP founder N T Rama Rao. He is a politician of Telugu Desam Party.

2016

In March 2016, Balakrishna created flutter when he remarked that his fans would want him to kiss female leads and impregnate them in the movie. The insensitive remarks were targeted by the Opposition YSR Congress Party in the Assembly which resulted in a war of words between the ruling and opposition parties. YSR Congress demanded an unconditional apology from both Chandrababu Naidu and Balakrishna over the 'anti-women' stance of the government.

2014 Elections

Though hailing from a political family, Nandamuri Balakrishna entered active politics in 2014. He is contesting Hindupur Assembly constituency in Anantapur district.

Assets

According to the affidavit filed while contesting 2014 elections, Balakrishna mentioned that he has assets worth Rs 170,47,15,135. His wife Vasundhara has Rs 130,78,66,967 on her name and his son Mokshagna has Rs 22,92,84,929.

Balakrishna called Congress leader and former PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana a ‘liquor don’. He also verbally attacked Tammineni Sitaram on the second day of his campaigning in Srikakulam district. Balakrishna said that Botcha has earned crores of rupees illegally. He added that Botcha is involved in illegal sand mining. Addressing a gathering in Amudalavalasa, Balakrishna called Tammineni Sitaram a corrupted leader and asked people not to vote for such a leader who change parties frequently for his own sake. Balakrishna said that he would not campaign for his sister Daggubati Purandeswari who is contesting Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency on BJP ticket. Apr 23, 2014

Confident of victory
Balakrishna expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious in the Hindupur assembly elections. Speaking to media in the evening on polling day, Balakrishna said TDP would win the elections and will form government in Andhra Pradesh. He credited the youth for the high percentage of voter turnout. If elected, he would ensure proper drinking water facility in the constituency. Balakrishna also said that he is contemplating of launching Basavatarakam cancer hospital.
