Kodela Sivaprasada Rao

Kodela Sivaprasada Rao is an politician belonging to Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh. He has served as the first Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of New Andhra Pradesh from 2014. Kodela served in N.T. Rama Rao and Nara Chandrababu Naidu cabinets. He also held the portfolios of Home, Health, Major Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Civil Supplies.


On 28 December 2012, Referring to the all-party meeting on Telangana issue, Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said that the ball is in the centre's court to show a solution to the Telangana issue. He found fault with TRS for targetting TDP even though it is the Congress that is the main hurdle.


Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao tendered an apology to the people of the state for the House not being able to transact any business or take up any meaningful debates in the first three days of the winter session. On 20 December 2015, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, in a press conference lamented that the opposition party was disrupting the House. He said that it was very said that the people have to listen to unparliamentary language and abuse in the House. Saying that the legislators could conduct protests in the House, but should be done in a way that the Assembly session is not stopped.


On 2 January 2016, Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao appointed a committee to probe the suspension of YSRCP MLA RK Roja. The committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Mandali Budda Prasad has TDP MLA Sravan Kumar, YSR Congress MLA G Sreekanth Reddy and BJP MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju as members. The committee would submit its report within 20 days.
