Farooq Abdullah

Farooq Abdullah is a former Indian Union Minister. He was the New and Renewable Energy Minister. Farooq Abdullah is also the former Chief Minister of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir and the patron of the National Conference. He took oath as a cabinet minister on May 28, 2009. He is the second amongst the 59-ministers to take oath of office and secrecy on the day.

Professional Biography

On November 28, 2008, Farooq campaigned at the Doda district as part of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections.

He could not to attend cabinets swearing ceremony as he is flying to South Africa to attend one of the IPL cricket matches.

Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is in Pakistan

On 28 November 2015, Farooq Abdullah made controversial statement saying that the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) region will be a part of Pakistan and that Jammu and Kashmir is part of India. His remarks were slammed by several politicians including his son Omar Abdullah. A day later, he said that the Indian forces can't defend against terrorists and militants.
