The Communist Party of India-Marxist is a political party in India. The party is often abbreviated as CPI(M) or CPM. The CPI(M) is a left-wing Marxist political party in India. It has a strong presence in the states of Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura.
On February 18, 2011 CPI (M) criticized DMK for it’s involvement in the 2G scam.
The CPI(M) expelled Somnath Chatterjee from the party following the laters refusal to resign from the post of the Speaker of Lok Sabha after the left party withdrew support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government over the India-US civil nuclear deal.
