After his re-election victory, Barack Obama and the first family left Chicago, Illinois to the White House at 3:40 p.m. on 7 November 2012 (Wednesday). They arrived at the Joint Base Andrews at 5:15 pm.

Barack Obama delivered an emotional message thanking his campaign staff a day after his election at the campaign headquarters in Chicago.

In an attempt to avoid the "fiscal cliff" at the beginning of 2013 and to bring a bipartisan support to recover the economy, Barack Obama has telephoned Republican and Democratic leaders of House of Representatives and U.S. Senate on 7 November 2012.

In his first public appearance after winning the re-election, President Barack Obama on 9 November 2012, reiterated that the wealthy should pay more in taxes. He said that the majority of American agree to his approach and showed his re-election as a proof to it.

He invited the congressional leaders for talks on how to avert the fiscal deficit.

Four days after his re-election is confirmed, the Florida state has confirmed that Barack Obama won the Florida state’s 29 electoral votes. The Florida Secretary of State’s Office confirmed “That gives the president a total of 332 electoral votes to Mitt Romney’s 206. Florida officials said Obama had 50 percent of the vote to Romney’s 49.1 percent, a margin of about 74,000 votes.”

The Florida result doesn’t change anything as his re-election was already confirmed since Obama won all seven other swing states - Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Virginia, Colorado and New Hampshire.
