Ashok Gajapati Raju

Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju is a Telugu Desam Party politician from Vizianagaram. Ashok Gajapati Raju is a member of Narendra Modi’s Cabinet at Centre and is Civil Aviation Minister. Gajapati Raju is a Member of Parliament representing Vizianagaram constituency. Gajapati Raju previously served as Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Vizianagaram constituency.

Ashok Gajapathi Raju was born on June 16, 1951. He studied at Gwalior Scindia School, Hyderabad Public School and at the V.S. Krishna College in Visakhapatnam.

Political Career

Ashok Gajapati Raju was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in 1978 as a Janata Party candidate. He later shifted his loyalties to the Telugu Desam Party and was elected in 1983, 1985, 1989, 1994, 1999 and in 2009. Ashok Gajapati Raju served as Excise Minister and Commercial Taxes Minister in N T Rama Rao’s cabinet and as a Finance and Legislative affairs minister in N Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet.
