High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and the State of Andhra Pradesh

The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is the common High Court of the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. High Court of Andhra Pradesh, as it was known earlier, was set up on 5 November 1956 under the State Reorganization Act 1956. The Andhra Pradesh High Court was renamed as High court of Hyderabad in view of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh state. From 2 June 2014, after the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 came into force, it has been renamed and serves as a common high court for both the states. A separate high court has to be established for Andhra Pradesh. After a separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh is established, High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad shall remain the High Court for Telangana state.

October 12, 2012 Division bench comprising acting Chief Justice PC Ghose and Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar directed the Visakha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Visakhapatnam to deposit Rs. 10 lakh as penalty. The bench was allowing a writ appeal filed by AICTE.

February 24, 2014 High Court suspends GO which appointed Y Ramachandra Reddy as executive officer of Srikalahastheeswara Swamy temple in Chittoor. The GO was issued by the principal secretary to revenue (endowments) on February 19, 2014.
March 27, 2014 Division bench comprising Justice L Narasimha Reddy and Justice MSK Jaiswal directed AP Government or Government of successor state to compensate two kids for its liquor policy. The Kids’ father has killed their mother in an inebriated state. The court directed the Government through Chief Secretary to make fixed deposits of Rs. 2 lakhs each within three months. The amount would remain in FDs till kids became majors.
April 22, 2014 High Court sets aside order of a special court that sentenced 21 people to life imprisonment and 35 others to one year’s jail for the 1991 massacre of Dalits in Guntur district. The High Court struck down the sentence for lack of evidence in the Tsundur massacre case.
