Arun Jaitley (born December 28, 1952 in New Delhi) is a senior Indian politician, BJP member, former BJP General Secretary. He is the current Union Finance Minister in Narendra Modi's Cabinet. Arun Jaitley is a Rajya Sabha member.

Jaitley campained for the Assembly elections in various states in October 09.
In September 2008, Jaitley rejected an offer from BJP to stand as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Delhi elections.

- In April 09, Jaitley said that if voted back to power, a commission would be formed to investigate the role of the CBI in the Bofors case.
- He resiged from the post on June 16, 2009 in view of a rule of one man one post. Jaitely had been elected by the BJP as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
2002 Gujarat riots
In March 2010, Jaitley said Narendra Modi will cooperate with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Gulbarg carnage case of the 2002 Gujarat riots.
Arun Jaitley is contesting to the Lok Sabha in the 2014 elections from Amritsar. His chief rival in the election is Punjab Chief Minister and Congress nominee Amarinder Singh.

As Finance Minister
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has selected Arun Jaitely as the Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs and Defence. He took oath as a Council of Minister on May 26, 2014.
Arun Jaitely assumed charge of his office on May 27, 2014. After assuming the charge, he was briefed on the key initiatives and policy issues by the Secretaries of the different departments of the Ministry of Finance. The Finance Minister also held a meeting with the senior officials of the Ministry to have a first hand information regarding the ongoing issues and the forthcoming challenges facing the Indian economy among others. Later during his brief media interaction, Finance Minister Jaitely said that his priorities would be to tackle inflation, boost economic growth and follow the path of fiscal consolidation among others.
A day after Prime Minister's office defended Manmohan Singh, Arun Jaitley criticized that even though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was speaking, it was not being heard.
